| Percorsi
tra le Biennali. 1948-1968. The painting in Friuli and in
Venice | The
exhibition offers the works of those artists from Friuli and Veneto
who participated at the Biennale in 1948 and 1968. The aim of this
exhibition is to represent some of those extraordinary moments of
exchange and innovation lived by some important members of the
visual art community, trying to explain them from the point of view
of Friulian and Venetian artists who contributed to the prestige of
the Biennale in those years. The search has been concentrated on
those generations that, also by way of of iconographic painting,
contributed to the modernization and evolution of contemporary
painting. A special attention will be given to those artists who
really participated in the development of avant-gardes during the
second post-war period. About 220 paintings and 25 graphic works of
the following artists will be presented: Afro, Edmondo Bacci, Mario
Deluigi, Virgilio Guidi, Riccardo Licata, Gino Morandis, Anton Zoran
Music, Armando Pizzinato, Bruno Saetti, Giuseppe Santomaso, Emilio
Vedova and Giuseppe Zigaina, Giorgio Celiberti, Luciano Gaspari,
Alberto Gianquinto, Tancredi and Vinicio Vianello. Anzil, Saverio
Barbaro, Renato Borsato, Carlo Ciussi, Federico De Rocco, Giuseppe
Gambino, Bruna Gasparini, Leone Minassin, Mirko, Giorgio Dario
Paolucci, Fred Pittino, and Saverio Rampin complete this
comprehensive review. | Date: | | from

Festival | The
fourth edition of this festival will be a rich cultural, artistic,
and musical venue, in its most different, innovative, and dynamic
forms. Home Page Festival aims at diffusing artistic culture and
extending participation among young people, rising awareness of
health and respect for the environment, integrating and promoting
free discussions. Free entry to all events. The 2011 edition has a
rich musical and cultural calendar, with several additional
experimental activities. As in the past editions, the lecture
programme will be very rich and interesting. The cultural programme
will start on Friday afternoon at 19.00, as always in the pleasant
surroundings of the “Parco del Cormor” in Udine. The afternoon is
dedicated to conferences, while in the evenings the festival will
host music events. Art exhibitions and installations will colour the
park during the festival, creating a stimulating and fascinating
atmosphere. Activities include: music workshops, computer graphic
courses, creative photography courses, street art, free style barman
courses and comics courses, as well as a space dedicated to animals
with behaviour and training courses, and many useful advices for our
four-legged friends. Moreover, a street market will take place
during the festival. Sport and well-being are a must: for the whole
summer there will be football and volleyball matches, as well as
workshops and lectures on health. The 2011 edition of the Home Page
Festival has been organized in co-operation with the University of
Udine, M.E.I. (Independent Labels Meeting - Faenza), Exit Festival
(Belgrade) and Sziget (Budapest), as well as new partners such as
Vicino/Lontano and Udine Jazz.
| Trieste
“the Monte Carlo of the Adriatic Sea” | The San Giusto basin, placed between the Stazione
Marittima (Maritime Station) and the Molo Audace quay, will be a
worldwide showcase for presentation to the richest clients of the
globe the latest models of superluxury maxi yachts, freshly built by
the Ferretti Group - known to be one of the absolute international
leaders in the design, construction, and marketing of motor yachts –
and specifically by Ferretti Custom Line, the trademark that, among
the eight of the group, represents the "philosophy" of customized
maxi yachts for each owner, with personalization of construction
styles, finishings, furnishings etc. Of these "navigating
jewels" five to seven are to arrive at Trieste, between the
evening of Thursday 26 and Monday 30 May, and among these no less
than three absolute novelties will be presented in worldwide
preview, making Trieste the saloon of the sector. This concerns 100'
(30 metres) and 124' (38 metres) Custom Line ships for the planing
line (with streamlined hull for high performance and seaworthiness),
and the 33 metres “navetta 33 crescendo” for the semi-displacement
line (boats with classic lines for a cruiser, fluid and silent, for
long distances). Presentations of this type are done once a year,
usually at Monte Carlo or Cannes, and usually with only
one new model at a time. Therefore it can well be said that this
time, at least for these four days at the end of May, Trieste has
good reasons to boast the title of “Monte Carlo of the Adriatic” and
in addition, the contemporary presence of three brand-new mega
yachts. Not only this; another inevitable aspect connected
with this event has to be pointed out, namely the
presence at Trieste on those days of a good number of VIPs, many
journalists of the international specialized press that usually
follow this event and probably also journalists and paparazzos of
the gutter press. Very famous personalities from show business and
finance will be present and thus become formidable testimonials of
Trieste and her singular beauty.
| 1st Mosaic
Symposium | Three
graduates of the Mosaic School of Spilimbergo, attending
specialization courses will participate at the first Mosaic
Symposium held at the Piazza Marcello d’Olivo at Lignano Pineta.
This event ideally continues the line of the ten editions of the
International Sculpture Symposium. The guests can admire the artists
while they are working on their creations, and check the progresses
day by day. The symposium will close on Sunday 12th June with a
pleasant ceremony in the presence of authorities and tourists: the
mosaics will be shown and artists, with the help of Mr Alido
Gerussi, President of the Mosaic School, and Mr Enzo Santese, art
critic, will explain their
creations. | |
| The
Tiepolo Days | The new
edition of the “Tiepolo Days”, held at Udine, will lead you to a
journey for the discovery of painting made of light. Works coming from the museums of Venice, Milan, Turin and
from some of the most important international private and public
collections, proof of the painter’s development before 1726, are
shown in the exhibition. The visitors can follow the traces left by
Giambattista Tiepolo (1696 – 1770) and his son Giandomenico (1727 –
1804) in a town which they loved and which loved them: the
marvellous cycle of frescoes in the Diocesan Palace, the early works
in the Cathedral, the masterpieces in the “Oratorio della Purità”,
as well as other drawings and paintings preserved in the Civic
Museums of the castle. From 4th June, the town will delve into a
XVIII century atmosphere thanks to the exhibition "Il Giovane
Tiepolo: alla scoperta della luce" (Young Tiepolo: discovering the
light), and to baroque music concerts and special food and wine
offers. Sounds
and images will recreate that joy of the senses, which is one of the
greatest heritages of the baroque
culture. | |
| Grease –
The Musical | The
English edition of “Grease" is a national premiere at Trieste.
Thanks to the famous film with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John,
“Grease” can certainly be considered as a “classic” even in Italy.
The luckiest saw it on Broadway, where it was staged first in 1972,
and then for eight consecutive years, or in London where it became
one of the most loved and longest running shows... So, why not enjoy
this classic in English? Especially when the company comes directly
from London’s West End and the musical has an important producer,
such as David Ian: a quality label if we consider that he already
performed some musical comedies at Trieste, such as Cats and
Chicago... Now, it’s the time of Grease by Jim Jacobs and Warren
Casey, an everlasting masterpiece, which continues to make us dream,
thanks to a fantastic Fifties soundtrack and to worldwide shared
world shared stories of love, jealousy and utopia among teenagers.
There is no need to dwell upon the well-known love adventures and
teen-age discussions between Sandy, a typical “good girl”, and the
young bully Danny Zuko, spiced with colourful hoop skirts, leather
jackets, and greased hair... we will live them again on stage,
thanks to the interpretating, singing and dancing talents of a
highly united and capable cast. Through their voices and their energy when dancing, we
will live again those legendary years of rock'n'roll and scenes
where generations feel at home. Thanks
to Agenzia TurismoFVG's tourist packages “Music&Live”,
spectators booking a two night stay in a partner hotel will receive
a free balcony ticket or a 50% discounted stall
ticket. | |
| Sant’Antonio – Oil, bread, music
and... | The
celebration of the patron, Saint Anthony, is a deeply rooted
tradition in Gemona del Friuli, with many initiatives in the first
fortnight of June. These religious celebrations take place in the
Sanctuary of Sant'Antonio, in addition to many other interesting
events, such as the “Sant'Antonio – oil, bread, music, and…” fair
held on 13th June in the old town and near the Sanctuary, with wine
and food stands, music and the traditional market “Fiera di
Sant'Antonio”. After the open-air cinema festival, a firework show
will take place, as always. | Date: | | from

| Spring
Herbs Festival | ... an
elderberry aperitif, an hors-d’oeuvre with mountain chicory, a
risotto with catchfly, polenta with wild herbs, an omelette with
chive grass, bread with nettle, rhubarb tart, and a grappa
with cumin... These are only some of the typical dishes that you can
taste during the festival held in this alpine village. The festival
is enriched by lectures and exhibitions on wild herbs, as well as
guided botanical excursions to discover the local flora, and an
agricultural and handicraft product
fair. | |
| 25th Biker
Fest | The
Biker Fest is the most important bikers' meeting in Italy and one of
the most known in Europe. The 25th Biker Fest will be held in Osoppo
(Udine) from 16th to 19th June 2011, in the Rivelli Park, a green
area of more than 240.000 square metres, where more than 30.000
people were recorded in the past. Internationality is the leitmotif
of this event, which is also supported by an international
promotional campaign. Every year thousands of people from Europe and
from all over the world (including Russia, United States, Canada and
Australia) come to this meeting. As always, the 25th Biker Fest will
propose international shows and attractions, with important music
artists who made the history of Rock and Heavy
Metal. | |
| Graisana | The classical Graisana is back again this year in the
waters of the lagoon of Grado. Every year this historical and
spectacular regatta takes place in the gulf of the Golden Island and
has become a significant point of reference over the years. More and
more yachtsmen, both from Italy and abroad, from Austria or from the
Adriatic coasts, come to the classical OPEN regatta “La Graisana” at
Grado, an event that is not to be missed both for tourists and
onlookers. The regatta fields are all placed lengthwise, in the
waters off the Nazario Sauro dam, with a definitely spectacular
visual impact. A great emotion is also offered by the “Regata de le
Batele”: the rowing race with the traditional “batele” is in fact a
thrilling competition both for the public, which can assist to the
different preliminaries from the Nazario Sauro dam, as well as for
the participants that vie on a field with a length of about 400
metres, sailing once around it. The novelty of this year is the
participation of teams consisting of women and children, in a race
specially designed for them. Pleasant for its colours and
suggestions is also the parade of the balanced lugsails "al terzo"
that will bring a picturesque wave of tradition into the lagoon,
with the typical colourful balanced lugsails, on masts of often very
different boats: from the noble "topo" fishing boat, supplied with
deck, to the pleasure boat and Venetian boat, from the sampierota (a
smaller fishing boat, called after the island of St Peter San Pietro
in Volta) to the small topetta and
the light-weight sandolo and
the highly agile mascareta. The
sailing event is adorned by numerous collateral meetings with
performances and concerts.
