January 2011 was a record month for Berlin tourism and three new hotel openings in spring will enrich Europe’s most modern hotel landscape. Your Team of the visitBerlin Berlin Convention Office   Highlight of the months Record convention numbers for Berlin   The capital is the leading German convention city. 9.1 million professional visitors came to Berlin last year – ten percent more than in 2009. 113,100 events were staged (+ 4%). Total sales revenues grew by ten percent to EUR 1.65 billion. Go to the 2010 convention stats   New in Berlin Three additional capital hotels   Three new properties enrich the Berlin landscape. Close to Alexanderplatz square a Ramada hotel opened with more than 1,600 m? event space. The Titanic Comfort Hotel in Berlin Mitte convinces with a conference room boasting a state-of-the-art fit-out for up to 120 people, and at the H10 Berlin Ku´Damm the focus is on wellness offerings. It has a Despacio Beauty Centre with ice fountain and saunas. The event of the visitBerlin Berlin Convention Office will present the convention destination Berlin to some 150 decision-makers from 7 to 11 July 2011. Many buyers from all over the world have already registered. Registrations are still possible until the end of April. It has been presented with the IAPCO Award for excellent services in support of large-scale congresses and conventions. Read on   Prêt-à-Porter Bar: At the Marriott Hotel on Potsdamer Platz square star designer Michael Michalsky has just opened Germany’s first fashion bar. Up to 120 guests can enjoy health food in the “Catwalk Bar” and buy, for instance, the design chairs at the counter as a fashionable “dessert”. Get a first impression of the Catwalk Bar   Culture & Lifestyle The MoMA is back   Already in 2004 contemporary works of art from the Museum of Modern Art in New York were a crowd puller in Berlin. With the “Kompass” exhibition another 260 modern works of art from the renowned museum are exhibited, including works by Joseph Beuys. The exhibition will continue until 29 May 2011. Tickets are available, amongst others, at the Berlin Tourist Information points. The number of congress participants grew from 4.2 million in 2001 to around 9.1 million in 2010 – a development essentially driven by BCO.
