Tickets for the MoMA exhibition With the start of the MoMA exhibition, tickets for the Martin-Gropius-Bau are available as of now at the CallCenter of visitBerlin (+49-(0)30- 25 00 25) and at the Berlin Tourist Information Offices. This avoids long queues at the entrance. From 11 March to 29 May 2011 "Kompass" shows some 260 modern prints from the famous New York Museum of Modern Art. More at www.berlinerfestspiele.de 1st anniversary of multi-coloured chocolate world 460,000 "Square, Practical, Good" fans have visited so far the multi-coloured chocolate world of Ritter Sport. The flagship store of the tradition-steeped company has turned into a Berlin crowd puller within one year. On an exhibition space of 1,000 square metres close to Gendarmen Markt chocolate fans can create, amongst other things, their own Ritter Sport chocolate bar. More at www.ritter-sport.de Welcome to the PEPPERMINT Club! Boys in jeans and leather jackets are leaning nonchalantly on the jukebox, girls dance jive in polka-dotted gowns. Against the backdrop of an American diner, Wintergarten Varieté invites to an entertaining journey through the fifties. With live band, songs and dance, breath-taking acrobatic performances and a proper portion of humour, the show "PEPPERMINT Club" will enthral its audience until 2 April 2011. More at www.wintergarten-berlin.de (in German only!) CATS back in Berlin Ten years ago "Cats" was performed for the last time in Berlin. Now the musical is back to the German capital. From 9 March to 17 April 2011 it will be performed in its own dedicated theatre marquee. Close to the main station, it seats up to 1,800 people. Tickets are available at www.visitBerlin.de. More at www.cats.de (in German only!) ECHO Klassik again in Berlin After 11 years the ECHO Klassik returns to the German capital. On 2 October 2011 national and international classic music artists will be honoured in the Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt. The German capital is this year's host to the two ECHO award ceremonies. On 24 March 2011 the German ECHO Music Award is presented for the 20th time at Messe Berlin. More at www.echoklassik.de A century in pictures At the exhibition "The XXth Century – People – Places – Times" the German Historical Museum presents 250 photographs on contemporary German history. A focal theme is the building of the Berlin Wall in August 50 years ago. The exhibition will be staged at the Pei-building until 3 October 2011. More at www.dhm.de Grease Petticoats, storm-proof hair quiffs and good mood music – these are the characteristic features of Grease. From 1 to 20 March 2011 the cult musical will be performed at Admiralspalast. As a VIP to "Renaissance Faces" On 25 August 2011 the major public exhibition "Renaissance Faces" will open in the Bode Museum. More at www.visitBerlin.de 150 years National Gallery On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the National Gallery the State Museums of Berlin show the exhibition "The Collection of Banker Wagener. The Foundation of the National Gallery". From 23 March 2011 to 8 January 2012 some 140 paintings from the endowment of the Berlin banker Joachim Heinrich Wagener will be exhibited at the old National Gallery. The works were presented for the first time to the public on 22 March 1861. More at www.smb.museum 10 years Club Commission Berlin The Club Commission celebrates a milestone birthday this month. For 10 years now it has been the official representative body of the Berlin club scene and an interface between politics and nightlife. The Club Commission makes an important contribution to Berlin's party culture, which has become itself a sight worth seeing in the German capital.
